17 Point Sake from Furosen: Yamahai Junmai Ginjo...
I stopped in at my favorite sake dealer in Kyoto and was pleased to find a sake from Furosen that I had not tried yet was scored as a 17 pointer. I had seen this sake but never purchased it. My friend at the store told me that even at the brewery they don’t have this sake in stock. He showed me a magazine for sake aficionados and this sake (and another from Furosen) were given scores of 17...

First Sakura Mochi of the Spring
I had some awesome sakura mochi at a Kyoto maccha teahouse famous for its azuki bean confections. This one uses a sakura flavored crepe instead of the usual mochi. The leaf is pickled in salt. It is a wicked taste. Read all about it on KyotoFoodie.
